salt licks, steel, cyclone fence
55" x 66" x 62"

As a child, I would find salt licks in the woods left by hunters to entice deer. The salt blocks were out of place in the woods, a mysterious, stark, interruption amongst the greens and browns of the forest. Frozen in Place, Moved by Years draws upon these memories and responds to the weather of its location (Northern State University, Aberdeen, SD). The salt will be moved by precipitation and wind erosion, its edges softening, it mass being displaced like a melting snow bank, revealing objects and debris entombed within it.
